Source: Nigel Spong and Ofer Wolberger for the Park Slope Civic Council While not everyone in New York can live in a stunning Greek Revival townhouse in Greenwich Village with outdoor space on every floor, we can at least all take a peek inside of one during house tour season, which will soon be upon us. This is that special time of year beginning in early May when neighborhood organizations around the city convince the lucky few to open up their lovely homes to the public for charity. Let’s take a look at this…
Unit 53B at 425 Fifth Avenue has fantastic views all around. A truly beautiful unit with sun-drenched spaces and hardwood cherry floors throughout. The panoramic views show some of New York City’s most iconic landmarks from the Empire State Building to the Freedom Tower to the Statue of Liberty. Photographing real estate like this is what I am all about. Shooting for Sotheby’s Homes is always a treat. This is the first listing we have done for Linda Sierra but I’m sure it won’t be the last! Here is her description of the listing: The windowed kitchen features…
When it comes to living space in New York, there is a clear tradeoff between quality and quantity. Or at least this is the best that one can hope for when the only other alternative is not more low quality space, but living in a tiny dump. Developers and architects are latching onto the idea of high quality tiny living spaces as several micro apartment unit projects are being developed throughout the city. My Micro NY, a micro apartment development slated to open later this year at 335 East 27th Street, is getting the…
It’s almost that time again for the St. Patrick’s Day Parade in New York City. In 2015, it takes place on Tuesday, March 17, and it’s an event that you definitely don’t want to miss. Did we mention it’s the largest parade in the world? It’s been going strong for over 250 years ever since March 17, 1762 when it first marched up Fifth Avenue. The parade is one that’s deep rooted in tradition. It’s completely run by volunteers, many of whom come from a line of family members who have also been a…
Are you looking for a show stopper of an apartment with views of Central Park? Do you have a penchant for brocade, wallpaper, bright colors and $24 million in the bank? Then look no further than this Fifth Avenue co-op which laughs unabashedly in the face of modern minimalist décor. Beginning with the building itself, 1060 Fifth Avenue was designed by JER Carpenter, the architect behind many of New York’s most well-known luxury residential buildings. It’s a pre-war construction that finished in 1928 and was converted to a co-op in 1953. The façade is…
In a city where the average rental price is $3,129, looking for an apartment is enough to make you want to curl up and cry in a corner, and that’s before you even started actually doing walk-throughs of places, which can be a nightmare in and of itself. So what if you could get a place that’s less than $1,000 per month? No, that’s not the lack of coffee talking, there’s currently studio apartments up for grabs in Harlem that are just $539 a month. There’s no broker’s fee involved, and although prospective residents…
My good friends at Archigrafika are graphic designers that design, manufacture, and implement environmental branding. This style of working is unique for a graphic design firm – where traditionally, design is the endpoint. It was great to be able to see the hard working guys at Archigrafika putting up new signage while I photographed. They have done amazing work in a prolific manner, from completely branding Green-Wood Cemetery, to the entire Willis Tower – which is formerly the Sears Tower in Chicago. Not only is it exciting to work with great people at Archigrafika, but it is also exciting to…

Furnished Quarters provides it’s customers with furnished apartments for short term rentals. They asked me to photograph one of their units at 66 Franklin Street. All of their units are fully decorated, and feature wi-fi, televisions, full kitchen, etc. They offer an alternative to the traditional hotel experience, which is why a lot of their sales are corporate housing and relocations. This particular unit utilized wood surfaces really nicely in the decor. It is always more pleasant to photograph something like this because it is much less sterile and allows potential customers to get that “homey” feel. …
